Exceptional commitment and leadership recognized. Two Albertans, known for their dedication to the province's youth and outstanding leadership in their communities, are being inducted into the Alberta 4-H Hall of Fame.
George and Judy Andrews, from Barrhead, have dedicated more than 50 years to the 4-H program in addition to numerous other community projects. They have inspired parents to become leaders and 4-H members to look beyond their projects and embrace all that 4-H has to offer at the district, regional and provincial levels.
"The success of the Alberta 4-H program can be credited to the hard work of its many volunteers who give their time, energy and talents to clubs across Alberta," said Evan Berger, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development. "The level of commitment these inductees have to 4-H inspires and influences the lives of youth and many have gone on to be successful and accomplished leaders in their communities and in our agriculture industry."
The 2011 inductees demonstrate the ideal qualities of past hall of famers. They show outstanding leadership in promoting the 4-H motto of "Learn to Do by Doing" and live out the 4-H pledge of service and commitment to club, community and country through all levels of the organization.
George and Judy will join an elite group of 75 Alberta men and women inducted into the Alberta 4-H Hall of Fame since it was established in 1971. They will both be officially honoured during an induction ceremony at the annual 4-H Leaders' Conference in Edmonton January 14, 2012.
